Japanese knotweed in Surrey

Japanese knotweed spreads through its rhizomes and from fragments of stem and root moved in soil, on tools or in water. In Surrey it turns up in gardens, on road and railway verges, and along rivers such as the Wey, the Mole and the Thames, where fragments can be carried downstream.

We have worked on invasive plant jobs across Surrey, including riverside Himalayan balsam in Weybridge and hemlock in Cobham. For knotweed, we survey in person, identify the plant and recommend herbicide treatment, stem injection, excavation or a combination, depending on your site and your plans.

Rivers, waste and the rules

If the knotweed is on a riverbank or close to water, only approved products can be used, and in England the Environment Agency's agreement is needed to use herbicides in or near water. We take this into account when we plan the treatment.

Excavation or treatment?

Some sites suit digging out, some suit herbicide or stem injection, and some need both. We recommend the right approach at the free survey. See treatment vs excavation.

FAQ

Questions from Surrey

Straight answers. Anything else, just ask.

Do you cover my town in Surrey?

We work across Surrey, including Guildford, Woking, Epsom, Reigate, Redhill, Dorking, Leatherhead and Cobham. Send your postcode with your enquiry and we will confirm.

The knotweed is on the riverbank behind my garden. Can you treat it?

Often, yes, but treating knotweed near water needs approved products and, in England, the Environment Agency's agreement. We will look at the site at the free survey and explain the options.

Is the survey really free?

Yes. We visit in person, identify the species and send you a written report with photos and a fixed price quotation, with no obligation. Formal CSJK (Certified Surveyor of Japanese Knotweed) survey reports, which confirm whether invasive plants are present (for example for a property sale or mortgage), are £240 (£200 + VAT).

Do you provide reports for a property sale or mortgage?

Yes. Formal CSJK (Certified Surveyor of Japanese Knotweed) survey reports for property sales, mortgages, insurance or legal needs are £240 (£200 + VAT). The in-person survey and quotation are free.

Are your prices fixed?

Yes. Quotations are fixed price, plus VAT, with no hidden fees or subscriptions.

How do you keep your prices competitive?

We are a lean, owner-led team with no national overheads or call centres. Your site is surveyed in person by a qualified surveyor, we use recognised methods, and every job comes with a written guarantee and management plan. Every quote is fixed, plus VAT, after a free survey.
