Bamboo removal · Kent

Bamboo in Kent gardens

Bamboo is often planted as a fast-growing screen, and in many Kent gardens it has outgrown its spot. The usual problems are canes coming up through the lawn, rhizomes under patios and decking, and bamboo crossing the boundary into a neighbour's garden.

We work across Kent, from the Medway towns and the Thames side of the county to the Weald and the coast. Every job starts with a free in-person survey and a written report with photos.

Ground conditions in Kent

Much of the Weald of Kent is heavy clay, which holds water through the winter, while the North Downs are chalk. On clay, wet weather can slow excavation and soil screening, and boards or mats may be needed to protect lawns and access routes. We plan this at the survey.

Send us a photo on WhatsApp or through the enquiry form and we will tell you what you have and the best way to deal with it. Surveys are free.

Coming from next door?

Bamboo does not stop at the fence

Running bamboo sends rhizomes under fences and gravel boards, and a dense root mat can build up along the boundary. We dig out what has come through and can fit a root barrier along the boundary to help stop it coming back.

FAQ

Questions from Kent

Straight answers. Anything else, just ask.

Do you cover my town in Kent?

We work across Kent, including Maidstone, Canterbury, Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Ashford, Dartford and Gravesend. Send your postcode with your enquiry and we will confirm.

When is the best time to dig bamboo out?

Bamboo can be excavated at any time of year. On heavy clay, drier months make the work easier, but if the bamboo is already causing damage it is better not to wait. We will advise at the survey.

Is the survey really free?

Yes. We visit in person, identify the species and send you a written report with photos and a fixed price quotation, with no obligation. Formal CSJK (Certified Surveyor of Japanese Knotweed) survey reports, which confirm whether invasive plants are present (for example for a property sale or mortgage), are £240 (£200 + VAT).

The bamboo is coming from next door. What can you do?

First, we'll come round for a free survey and give you a report you can share with your neighbours to get things started. Then we can quote for two options: defending your boundary with a root barrier on your side, or working across the boundary to remove the bamboo at the source, if your neighbours give permission.

Are your prices fixed?

Yes. Quotations are fixed price, plus VAT, with no hidden fees or subscriptions.

How do you keep your prices competitive?

We are a lean, owner-led team with no national overheads or call centres. Your site is surveyed in person by a qualified surveyor, we use recognised methods, and every job comes with a written guarantee and management plan. Every quote is fixed, plus VAT, after a free survey.
