Bamboo in Sussex gardens
From terraced streets in Brighton & Hove to larger gardens around Horsham and Haywards Heath, running bamboo causes the same problems: canes appearing in the lawn, rhizomes under paving and disagreements along the boundary. Cutting the canes back does not stop it, because the rhizomes keep growing underground.
We cover East and West Sussex, from the coast to the Weald. Not sure we reach your street? Send your postcode with your enquiry and we will confirm.
Ground conditions in Sussex
On the South Downs and the coastal plain, many gardens sit on chalk with flints, while the Weald further north is mostly clay. Flinty ground, and narrow access to terraced and semi-detached gardens, can mean more of the work is done by hand. We look at both at the free survey, so the fixed price reflects the real job.

Got bamboo like this?
Send us a photo on WhatsApp or through the enquiry form and we will tell you what you have and the best way to deal with it. Surveys are free.
Bamboo does not stop at the fence
Running bamboo sends rhizomes under fences and gravel boards, and a dense root mat can build up along the boundary. We dig out what has come through and can fit a root barrier along the boundary to help stop it coming back.

Questions from Sussex
Straight answers. Anything else, just ask.
Do you cover my town in Sussex?
We work across Sussex, including Brighton & Hove, Worthing, Crawley, Horsham, Chichester, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill and East Grinstead. Send your postcode with your enquiry and we will confirm.
I live in a terraced house with no rear access. Can you still remove the bamboo?
Usually, yes. Without vehicle access the excavation is done by hand. We plan access and waste removal at the free survey, and the waste is taken away by a registered waste carrier.
Is the survey really free?
Yes. We visit in person, identify the species and send you a written report with photos and a fixed price quotation, with no obligation. Formal CSJK (Certified Surveyor of Japanese Knotweed) survey reports, which confirm whether invasive plants are present (for example for a property sale or mortgage), are £240 (£200 + VAT).
The bamboo is coming from next door. What can you do?
First, we'll come round for a free survey and give you a report you can share with your neighbours to get things started. Then we can quote for two options: defending your boundary with a root barrier on your side, or working across the boundary to remove the bamboo at the source, if your neighbours give permission.

Are your prices fixed?
Yes. Quotations are fixed price, plus VAT, with no hidden fees or subscriptions.
How do you keep your prices competitive?
We are a lean, owner-led team with no national overheads or call centres. Your site is surveyed in person by a qualified surveyor, we use recognised methods, and every job comes with a written guarantee and management plan. Every quote is fixed, plus VAT, after a free survey.
